Hot

How can you top an espresso? With hot chocolate and steamed & frothed milk and a squirt of cream, that's how! Comfort in a glass.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots of Espresso
  • Chocolate powder - to taste, but we used two tablespoons for a rich chocolate-y taste
  • Steamed milk
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate flakes or syrup of your choice to dress.
  • Garnish: Whipped cream. Chocolate sprinkles or a sweet syrup, or both!

Method

Step 1
Add chocolate powder to your glass.

Step 2
Start with your milk. Heat your milk with the traditional steam wand, ensuring you have set the LatteCrema system to the Latte setting, or if using a fully automatic coffee machine, simply press the button for a latte. If your milk frothing wand has no settings, sink the wand further into the milk to heat it. You want lots of heated milk, and a little foam. Tap your jug on the surface to get rid of any larger air bubbles.

Step 3
Next comes the perfect espresso, which takes around 20 to 30 seconds to extract, and uses around 7 to 8 grams of coffee beans for a single espresso. Drop this into your milk directly. Stir to combine the ingredients.

Step 4
Top with a flourish of squirty cream, and syrup or chocolate flakes.
