The unit is designed to continually monitor the rooms humidity while the unit is powered on by running the fan. The compressor will cycle on when the humidity that is being read is higher than the humidity you set. The unit will cycle off when the desired humidity is met. The fan and compressor work together to maintain a comfortable living environment.
