The unit is designed with a rinse function that will deliver hot water to clean out any residual coffee from prior use. This feature is also used to pre warm the portafilter and filter to deliver a hot espresso.
It is recommended that once you remove the portafilter to brew your coffee, you dry the filter basket before grinding.
