As our industry faces the challenge of increasing long term unemployment, plus a shortage of local talent, it was clear that a solution was needed.
In response to this, we have partnered with Well Grounded, an award-winning social enterprise, launched in 2016 to support the UK’s unemployed to access sustainable careers in coffee.
Well Grounded runs a series of Specialty Coffee Training Academies for adults not in education, employment or training. They empower people with the skills, training, mentorship and qualifications they need to access work in the specialty coffee industry. Their aftercare programme transitions over 70% of their Graduates into work, further training or education and provides ongoing free wellbeing and job coaching to help them progress.
Why? We’ve always been passionate about both coffee and giving back, and what partnership better reflects those interests and values than Well Grounded? To us, it’s essential to propel skilled and committed individuals into our innovative and exciting industry, and allow them to thrive in this space.
This partnership has enhanced Well Grounded's ability to provide opportunities. De’Longhi sponsored a cohort who have since graduated, with industry and globally recognised accreditation, enabling them to work in the coffee industry. More recently we launched our La Specialista HomeCafe Kit which offers a donation for every product sold back to Well Grounded programmes.
