What are Fan Heaters? How do they work?

Fan heaters keep you warm by releasing direct heat very quickly thanks to the built-in fan. Fan heaters have metal coils inside and electricity flows through the coils to heat them. When the coils are warm, they begin to heat the air inside the heater. The heater also has a fan that pushes the warm air out of the heater and into the room. Due to their handy size and the carrying handle on many models, the heaters are mobile and can easily be plugged into a wall socket.

Traditional Fan Heaters vs Ceramic Fan Heaters

While conventional fan heaters relies only on heating wires to heat the air, ceramic fan heaters use a ceramic heating plate, which get heated by the electricy and heats up the surrounding air. This allows the ceramic fan heaters radiate heat long after the heater has been turned off, since the plate retains more heat than the metal wire. Ceramic space heaters are also much quieter than traditional fan heaters.

Energy consumption

Energy consumption

Electric fan heaters can provide cosy warmth on cold winter evenings, but it must be taken into account that they generally use more electricity than other electric heaters to warm up a room of the same size. However, as they are suitable for small rooms, it is possible to keep energy consumption under control by using small tricks such as remembering to close windows during use and switching off devices once the desired heat is reached.
